Before You Send a Case
01What scanner brands do you accept?+
We accept STL and PLY files from all major intraoral scanner brands — 3Shape TRIOS, iTero, Medit, Carestream, Planmeca Emerald, and Primescan. If you're using something else, just send the file format and we'll confirm compatibility.
02Do you accept physical impressions?+
Not at this stage — we're a fully digital lab. Every case starts from an intraoral scan (STL or PLY) sent through your scanner's portal or directly to info@refractdentallab.com.au. Working scan-to-mill end-to-end means no analog distortion from impression material setting or transit temperature, no margin loss during model pour, and a permanent digital record of every case for instant remakes. It also keeps turnaround tight and the workflow cleaner — no biological material in courier bags.
03What's the turnaround time?+
Standard turnaround is 2 weeks from approved scan to dispatch. Express turnaround is 1 week with a 25% surcharge. Complex cases (full-arch implants, multi-unit aesthetic work) may need additional time — we'll always confirm timeline before fabrication.
04Do you offer remakes?+
Yes — every case is backed by our quality guarantee, and all of our ceramic work carries a 3-year warranty. If a restoration doesn't fit or aesthetics need refinement, we remake at no charge (provided the original prescription was accurate).
05How do I review designs before milling?+
For complex cases, we share design previews via a dedicated WhatsApp group with you and your team. You can mark up screenshots, request changes, and approve in real time. Most simple crowns proceed without preview unless requested.
06What implant systems do you work with?+
Every major system — Straumann, Nobel Biocare, Astra Tech / Dentsply, Neodent, MIS, Megagen, Osstem, Zimmer, and more. We hold compatible Ti-bases and library files for over 40 systems. Just specify the system in your prescription.
07Are your materials TGA-approved?+
Yes — all ceramics, alloys, and acrylics are sourced from TGA-listed, ISO-certified manufacturers. Material certificates are recorded for every case and available on request for your patient records.
08How do I open an account?+
Send an email to info@refractdentallab.com.au with your practice details and we'll set you up within 24 hours. New accounts get a complimentary first-case review, a digital onboarding call to walk through scan capture and prescription tips, and our prescription template plus implant library files preloaded for your scanner.
